An upcoming performance at the Redlin Art Center will feature the work of Norwegian poet Olav H. Hauge. Hauge is one of Norway's most influential poets. He was also a horticulturist, working as a gardener in his own apple orchard. His connection to the natural world inspired his writing about the fauna and the changing of the seasons.

Visitors at the South Dakota arts conference are invited to make time for an exhibit entitled "The Chair is Not Me."It features a collection of writing by J.J. James Janis with illustrations from artists with disabilities. Janis, who has has cerebral palsy, has penned a series of poems inspired by his experiences. His work shines a light on the struggles and triumphs of people with disabilities.

Recently, Sioux Falls Washington High School Senior Hannah Dayaget was named the 2022 South Dakota Poetry Out Loud champion.Student participants of the Poetry Out Loud program memorize and recite works of classic and contemporary poetry. This weekend Dayaget participated in the Poetry Out Loud National Semifinals.
