This interview posted above is from SDPB's daily public-affairs show, In the Moment, hosted by Lori Walsh.

Recently, Sioux Falls Washington High School Senior Hannah Dayaget was named the 2022 South Dakota Poetry Out Loud champion.

Student participants of the Poetry Out Loud program memorize and recite works of classic and contemporary poetry for a chance to win cash awards and school stipends. This weekend Dayaget participated in the Poetry Out Loud National Semifinals.

Dayaget is also the runner-up in the 2022 Poetry Ourselves spoken word category for her original poem, "Mundane." Poetry Ourselves is a companion competition which highlights original poetry.

On In the Moment, Dayaget shared how her teachers and classmates encouraged her on her road to the semifinals.

Dayaget also recited one of her submissions to the competition, "A January Dandelion." by George Marion McClellan.
