No one is sure of Ludwig Van Beethoven's exact birthday, but he was baptized on December 17, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. Another certainty is that his 250th birthday falls in 2020.

The Jupiter Quartet is getting a head start. The Black Hills Chamber Music Society presents the Jupiter Quartet on September 29 at the First Congregational Church in Rapid City. Cellist Daniel McDonough previews the performance.

The Chamber Music Festival of the Black Hills begins Friday night and continues for the following two Fridays at the Performing Arts Center in Rapid City.

Six of this year's musicians and performers, along with executive director Michael A. Hill, joined for Moment in Sound from the South Dakota Community Foundation Studio in Rapid City.

Originally from South Dakota, Kelley Mikkelsen attended Eastman School of Music and has gone on to perform to acclaim in concerts in Europe, Asia, and the United States.

She joined us in the Sioux Falls Studio in September.

The Black Hills Chamber Music Society launches its season with a cello and piano duet on Sunday, September 23rd. That's after Thursday's performance at the new Hamre Recital Hall at Augustana University in Sioux Falls.

Cellist Kelley Mikkelsen joined In The Moment during her trip to South Dakota.

Originally from South Dakota, she attended Eastman School of Music and has gone on to perform to acclaim in concerts in Europe, Asia, and the United States.

In The Moment ... May 4, 2018 Show 330 Hour 1

The Black Hills Chamber Music Society closes their season Sunday, May 6th, with the Jasper String Quartet. The Philadelphia musicians are the Professional Quartet in Residence at Temple University's Center for Gifted Young Musicians. They've been awarded the CMA Cleveland Quartet Award, and their latest album, Unbound, was hailed by the New York Times as one of the 25 best classical recordings of 2017.
