In The Moment: Black Hills National Forest's Future, Dakotans4Health, And COVID Immunity

PBS

We ask Dr. Shankar Kurra of Monument Health if people who have had COVID 19 are immune from the delta variant at the same rate as those who have been vaccinated. We also explore the potential impact of the Sturgis rally on South Dakota COVID cases.

Ben Wudtke is the executive director of the Black Hills Forest Resources Association. He joins us as part of our SDPB August Spotlight on the Black Hills National Forest. We'll talk forest products, conflicting timber reports, and the future of the forest.

The incentives for states to expand Medicaid are increasing under the Biden administration; South Dakota is one of 12 states resisting expansion. Rick Weiland is part of Dakotans4Health. The group seeks to bring Medicaid expansion to South Dakota voters in 2022.

We take a moment to talk home restoration with John Koch. He lives in the Sioux Falls Cathedral District and spoke with SDPB's Lura Roti.

The 53rd Annual Dakota Conference explores "Farming, Ranching, and Sustainability on the Northern Plains." Luke Zilverberg previews his presentation "Re-Creating History Through a Tallgrass Prairie Restoration."

We preview an artist's feature of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with a conversation about the "Motorcycles as Art" exhibition ahead of the 81st gathering in Sturgis. Curator Michael Lichter is with us to provide details.
