The SDDOT created this contest four years ago to promote winter driving safety awareness. Transportation Secretary Joel Jundt highlighted how winter weather has impacted travelers in South Dakota over the Christmas holiday.

“I want to publicly thank our SDDOT winter maintenance staff, as well as all of our public servants for their dedicated efforts to keep our roads clear and travelers safe during the long holiday weekend,” Jundt said. “And I want to personally thank all travelers who regularly used SD511 to guide their travel decisions.”

Officials encourage travelers to call 511 or visit sd511.org for information on winter travel conditions.
