No injuries reported after explosion at Onida ethanol plant

Authorities say no one was hurt after an explosion at an ethanol plant in central South Dakota.

Sully County Sheriff's office responded to an explosion and fire at Ringneck Energy in Onida on Sunday afternoon.

The Onida Volunteer Fire Department confirmed there were no injuries in the explosion.

Surrounding fire departments responded to the call to assist. Members from Blunt, Pierre Rural, Pierre Fire, and Pierre Rescue were on the scene.

It's still unclear what caused the explosion. The South Dakota Fire Marshal's office began an investigation into the cause on Monday.

Onida Fire Chief Caleb Shepard said there were six individuals working at the time of the explosion.
