Arts Market Exposes Contemporary Native Art To Viewers And Buyers

Contemporary and emerging Native artists were featured at the third annual Native Arts Gathering of People, Wind and Water, held this weekend in Rapid City. Almost 50 visual artists displayed their work, and performing artists provided music, spoken word, and dance. Organizers tell SDPB’s Victoria Wicks that the arts market exposes new trends in Native art to an audience who might be accustomed to seeing only traditional genres and themes.
