Search For Missing Woman Turns To Recovery Mission

The search continues for twenty-four year old Kristen Lakin. Lakin has been missing in Butte County since early last week when the SUV she was in was swept away in a flash flood. Lakin was traveling with 57-year old Roxanne Bleinbaum who made it out safely.

Butte County Deputy Sheriff Tristan Clements says locating Lakin is changing from a search and rescue effort to a recovery mission.

“All of our resources have kind of been suspended at this point. We’ve tried to make contact and are going to continue to make contact with all the landowners in the immediate area along both Battle Creek and the Morrow river area and let them know what we’re looking for. We’re hoping to have an air mission and then also the possibility of doing a diver mission with some of the Pennington County Search and Rescue divers of an area that we were interested in,” says Clements.

Clements says that area is near the high-water mark of where Bleinbaum walked out to the highway the day she was rescued. He adds that anyone in the Battle Creek or Morrow river area should keep an eye out for Lakin and contact the Butte County Sheriff with any information.
