The State Gymnastics Meet begins Friday at the Swiftel Center in Brookings. Team Championships are scheduled for Friday with Individual and All-Around Championships scheduled for Saturday.
Sioux Falls O’Gorman Head Gymnastics Coach Skye Bork says her team is poised and ready for the state meet. She says the entire year is a grind in terms of preparation for this moment.
"About January-February, you really want to start nailing down the skills that you’re putting into routines," says Bork. "The last two weeks, so the week before state qualifier and the week before state, you just want to be doing routines – you want to keep your kids healthy."
Bork explains keeping the kids healthy by avoiding sickness and injury is a challenge every gymnastics coach faces. But – all challenges aside, Bork is optimistic that this could be a special weekend for the Sioux Falls O’Gorman Knights gymnastics team.
