Johnson's bill targeting China's supply chain influence passes House

The U.S. House has voted overwhelming to approve a bill backed by Rep. Dusty Johnson targeting China’s influence on supply chains.

Johnson said the bill allows the Federal Maritime Commission to investigate foreign shipping business practices.

It also bans U.S. ports from using the logistics management platform that’s owned and operated by China.

Johnson co-sponsored the bipartisan measure – called the Ocean Shipping Reform Implementation Act – when it was first introduced in March of 2023.

It now heads to the Senate for consideration.

“House passage of OSRA 2.0 gets us one step closer to further securing our ocean shipping supply chains,” Johnson said. “The FMC needs authority to crack down on China’s unfair shipping practices. I hope the Senate considers our bill soon.”
