Governor Kristi Noem signs bills into state law

Gov. Kristi Noem continues to sign bills in the wake of the state’s legislative session.

Among the most recent was Senate Bill 198, which allows schools to acquire and administer nasal glucagon – a medicine to treat individuals suffering from dangerously low blood sugar levels.

Under this policy, public and private schools can now keep the medicine on hand and administer it in emergency situations.

Other recent bill signings include the creation of materials explaining the state abortion restrictions, making an appropriation for the construction of a new women’s prison, and a regulation to provide free birth certificates and identification cards to unhoused people.
