Marty Jackley was raised in Sturgis and graduated from the School of Mines and the USD School of Law. He was appointed attorney general by Governor Mike Rounds in 2009. He won elections in 2010 and 2014. He's known for arguing (and winning) the 2018 U.S. Supreme Court case South Dakota v. Wayfair. The decision allowed states to charge tax on out-of-state sellers, even if they didn't have brick-and-mortar buildings within state boundaries.
He is currently a partner at Gunderson Palmer Law Firm in Pierre. He joins the show to talk about his priorities as attorney general. (Jackley is running unopposed.)
