Pro, Anti Marijuana Ballot Question Committees Bring In Last Minute Dollars

Marijuana

In the days leading up to the election, campaigns for and against an amendment legalizing recreational pot are bringing in last minute cash.

South Dakotans for Better Marijuana Laws, the group pushing for adult marijuana use, have brought in $160,000 since the deadline to file campaign disclosures early last week.

The bulk of those dollars come from a Washington DC political action committee called New Approach.

No Way On Amendment A has brought it $64,000 since the deadline. The bulk of that money comes from the South Dakota Chamber. The other $10,000 comes from Premier Bankcard CEO Dana Dykhouse.

A recent KELO TV and Argus Leader poll shows a tight ballot question race. Fifty one percent of respondents say they support legal weed. Forty four percent oppose it. Five percent are undecided. There’s a margin of error of plus or minus four.
