History 605, Season 4, Ep 1: Inside the National Music Museum with Dwight Vaught and Arian Sheets

The museum has been a vibrant collector of a wide variety of musical instruments from all over the world for over five decades. The National Music Museum has a great deal to say about the history of the world's music. We start with the question, how did such a museum come to be in Vermillion, South Dakota? We went on to discuss what will visitors see when they visit? What's the museum's role in making and furthering music? How did the "A" note come to be standardized? What can we learn about a culture from its music? And lastly, how does their juke box have such amazing audio? For more information about the coming exhibit, "High Strung," photos of the museum, and other announcements, check out, www.nmmusd.org.
