Bringing underground music to light

For Larry Rohrer and David Hersrud, the best music is unique. Bring on the interesting sounds and stories behind the tracks!

Today, they discuss new music that's bringing life to rock and roll. They'll also explain how some artists use music to fund a cause. Plus, they cover a band who makes their art from tradition.

The Hu: “This Is Mongol”
The Hu is a band out of Mongolia that uses traditional Mongolian instruments. Founded in 2016, they call their genre Hunnu Rock. The Hu has since topped charts and performed in music festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza.

The remix of the band's popular single "This Is Mongol" featuring William DuVall of Alice in Chains was released in February.

Marc Broussard: "S.O.S. 4: Blues for Your Soul"
Marc Broussard is a classic blues musician. He released the fourth album in his S.O.S. series last February.

The series is made of albums Broussard has produced to provide funds for underprivileged youth.

The highlight is the cover of Little Milton’s “That’s What Love Will Make You Do” with help from guitarist extraordinaire Joe Bonamassa

Greta Van Fleet: “Starcatcher” coming out July 21
In 2017, Greta Van Fleet's record "From the Fires" won the Grammy for best rock album. Since then, they've sold out shows and been called the best band since Led Zeppelin.

The first song off their new album “Meeting the Master” is the best thing they’ve done.

Larry, although retired as Assistant General Manager for SDPB, continues to write, host, and do media production and voice work for SDPB.
