Jon Lauck is the author of "From Warm Center to Ragged Edge." It's a look at the erosion of Midwestern literary and historical regionalism and an impassioned call for its revitalization. Jon is the founding president of the Midwestern History Association, the associate editor and book review editor of the Middle West Review, and an adjunct professor of history and political science at the University of South Dakota. We talk about Midwestern culture in a globalized world and efforts to revitalize it.

REACH Literacy hosts an evening of Bad Poetry this Thursday, July 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Prairie Berrry in Sioux Falls. It's a night to celebrate where all good poets come from . . . which is to say . . . everyone has to start somewhere. In honor of the auspicious occasion, we welcome one of the state's best poets. Patrick Hicks.
