The Dakota Political Junkies untangle the top political stories of the week. This week we welcome a new Junkie. Noel Hamiel retired from the The Daily Republic in Mitchell after 35 years in the newspaper business. He now writes a column for weekly newspapers in the state. He's also served in the state legislature and on the state Board of Education. Roger Whittle is managing editor of the Watertown Public Opinion. Today we talk about U.S. Representative Kristi Noem's visit to Watertown, proposed cuts to rural flight service and more.

The South Dakota Humanities Council celebrates literature, promotes civil conversation, and tells the stories that define our state. Today we welcome a panel of the state's thought-leaders on the value of the humanities in our daily lives. We welcome Steve Sanford, Jean Nicholson, and Patrick Hicks for an extended conversation.
