The Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey team is leaving the current Sioux Falls Arena at the end of this season to move over to the newly constructed Denny Sanford Premier Center. The Sioux Falls Stampede is the first main tenant to commit to the new facility.
For 15 years the Sioux Falls Stampede has called the Sioux Falls Arena home. Tom Garrity is the President and CEO of the Sioux Falls Stampede. He says the Stampede have reached a 5-year contract agreement with the new events center. Garrity says the contract also comes with an additional 5-year extension option. He says this new facility ranks among the top of all venues in the United States Hockey League.
"This has been phenomenal! The Stampede for 15 years it’s been a very proud franchise, one of the bench marks, one of the premier franchises in the USHL and our attendance over the last two years has proven that again," Garrity says.
Garrity says the increased attendance and fan support has shown the organization to further reward their fans by giving them the best experience possible.
Mayor Mike Huether says this new events center will give fans an experience like they’ve never seen before.
"Well Sioux Falls fans, hockey fans; get ready because in the new Denny Sanford Premier Center there’s not a bad sight line in the house. It is going to be an incredible experience when it comes to hockey and I can hardly wait," Huether says.
The Sanford Premier Center is expected reach completion in the early fall of next year. So far there’s been no word if the Sioux Falls Storm indoor football team will make the move to the new facility.
