125 Hospitalized As Vaccination Rate Slows And COVID Cases Climb

The South Dakota Department of Health says, "The more the virus that causes COVID-19 circulates in a community, the more opportunities it has to transform into variants that can spread more easily. Help stop the spread and further mutation of the Coronavirus by getting vaccinated."

The state Department of Health reports:

  • New cases: 304
  • New deaths: 1
    • State’s death toll: 2,057
  • Active COVID Cases: 2,332 (+9.4% from yesterday)
  • Completed full vaccine series (12 and older): 55.50% (+2.5% from July 22)
    • Received at least one dose (12 and older): 60.89%
  • Currently Hospitalized: 125
    • Note: Currently Hospitalized numbers include COVID-19 cases and suspects that are in the hospital under transmission-based precautions. The number may include out-of-state cases and suspects.
