Total COVID-19 deaths in South Dakota.

More than 7,600 state residents are currently infected with COVID-19. That’s the highest number since late-December.

Health officials report 739 new cases, three new deaths and 236 people in the hospital. The latest fatalities bring the state’s death toll to 2,108. This report includes data from over the weekend.

The state health department says unvaccinated people make up the vast majority of new cases, deaths and hospitalizations.

Nearly 58 percent of South Dakotans 12 and older are fully vaccinated. Nearly 64 percent have at least a single dose of the vaccine. That means 417,000 people are now partially or fully vaccinated.
