An opportunity in Brookings this month lets residents do less yard work and invite more nature into their yards.

No Mow May allows residents to opt out of mowing all or part of their lawns.

The voluntary program promotes pollinators, like bees and butterflies, by allowing grasses and flowers to thrive without interference.

The Sustainability Council is also piloting a native plant program. Residents can receive vouchers to get partially reimbursed for native plant purchases.
