Superintendent Outlines Plans For RC Schools

Charles Michael Ray

The superintendent of Rapid City Area Schools says the district needs a strong strategic plan. Lori Simon says education leaders are working to develop the plan to give direction and establish the district’s priorities.

"It gets everybody in the district working on the same page toward common goals," Simon says. "A strong strategic plan that you keep alive and working really guides decision-making as well as drives the alignment of actions and resources across the district."

Simon says she wants to create a community advisory council to broadly represent people in the Rapid City area. She says this group can provide feedback on the work of the district.

The school leader talked about other challenges and plans for Rapid City schools during her State of the District Address. Listen to the full speech below.

Kealey worked in television for four years while attending the University of South Dakota. She started interning with South Dakota Public Broadcasting in September 2010 and accepted a position with television in 2011. Now Kealey is the radio news producer stationed in Sioux Falls.
