The South Dakota Highway Patrol is planning sobriety checkpoints in a dozen counties across the state during the month of February.
The Department of Public Safety said these checkpoints are designed to discourage drunk driving.
Counties with checkpoints this month include Beadle, Bennett, Brookings, Charles Mix, Clay, Codington, Lawrence, Lincoln, Pennington, Roberts, Spink and Walworth counties.
The Highway Patrol works with local law enforcement agencies to plan and carry out these checkpoints.
