South Dakota Century Farm and Ranch program highlights family operations

The South Dakota Farm Bureau and South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources want to recognize more family farms through the Century Farm and Ranch program.

To get a family farm recognized through the program, it needs to have had at least 80 acres under continuous ownership for 100 years or more. There is special recognition for properties that have reached 125 or 150 years of ownership.

Properties added to the program are honored at the State Fair on Aug. 29.

The application deadline is Aug. 1.
