Federal solar power investments to reach Pine Ridge

Creative Commons

The Biden Administration has made $500,000 in funding available for a solar energy project on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

This project is slated for Oglala Lakota Affordable and Transitional Housing residents and will help improve indoor air quality and reliability.

Funding for the project, one of a dozen announced this week, has come from the president’s Inflation Reduction Act.

EPA personnel say the solar investments are supposed to improve power conditions for residents and cut down on local pollution levels.
