Economic impact survey seeks to research SD's specialty producers

Honey is one of the most common specialty products.

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

The South Dakota Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) is calling on specialty producers across the state to complete an economic impact survey. The survey seeks to put a spotlight on specialty crops.

Producers of fruits, vegetables, honey, cut flowers and select crops may be eligible to participate in the survey. They must have grown or produced a thousand dollars worth of specialty crops in 2022. It doesn't matter if the producer sold or kept the crops for personal use.

Laura Kahler is the SDSPA's event coordinator contractor. She discussed the survey's goals and why producers should participate.
