Students of all ages convene next month in Sioux Falls for the South Dakota Scholastic Chess Championship.

Elliott Neff, National Master and CEO of Chess4Life, hosts the tournament at the Convention Center on Apr. 6.

They’ll have four championship sections and the top finishers in three of those will represent South Dakota in the national tournament.

The event also features an “I Love Chess 2” section for players who don’t feel ready for championships.

For those who’d like to warm-up, Chess4Life hosts a “Bughouse” team event on April 5. This is where two players work together in speed chess matches with other teams.

The tournament is open to kids from kindergarten to 12th grade of all skill levels.
