Listen: Western history led Anthony Williams to Deadwood

Anthony Williams is a Navy Veteran and history buff who works to preserve Deadwood’s history serving on the Historic Preservation Commission of Deadwood.

This interview is from SDPB's daily public-affairs show, In the Moment, hosted by Lori Walsh.

Anthony Williams is a retired Navy Veteran. Captivated by the history of the American West, he decided to make his post-Navy life in Deadwood. He bought a historic home and volunteers his time serving on the Historic Preservation Commission of Deadwood.

During a recent preservation conference in Rapid City, he visited with SDPB’s Lura Roti about his passion for history and preserving it.

Lura Roti grew up on a ranch in western South Dakota but today she calls Sioux Falls home. She has worked as a freelance journalist for more than two decades. Lura loves working with the SDPB team to share the stories of South Dakota’s citizens and communities. And she loves sharing her knowledge with the next generation. Lura teaches a writing course for the University of Sioux Falls.
