Food Network

If you’re a fan of the Food Network, you know Bobby Flay. In the world of competitive cooking and celebrity chefs, Flay reigns supreme. One popular South Dakota restaurateur recently had a chance to take on the famed chef in his own kitchen.

Sanaa Abourezk is the owner of Sanaa’s 8th Street Gourmet in Sioux Falls. Originally from Damascus, Syria, she’s been featured in the New York Times. Sanaa is a nutritionist, a chef, and, most recently, an up-and-coming Internet star.

She joins Dakota Midday to talk about her appearance on Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay.

Hannah Norem is a sophomore at Augustana University. She made it into the semi-final round of College Jeopardy and is taking home a $10,000 prize.

“I thought, you know it’s a big deal being on Jeopardy. 12,000 people tried out and only 15 people made it,” says Norem.

During her first round of jeopardy Norem experienced a three-way tie. Then in her second round she barely fell short of making it into the finals.

Food Network Says Wild Idea Is A Great Idea

A South Dakota buffalo ranch is being featured on the Food Network.  The Wild Idea Buffalo ranch outside of Rapid City was chosen as the location for one of the Network’s latest challenges – the “Great Food Truck Race”.

Jill O’Brien and her husband Dan own the Wild Idea ranch. She says the Food Network chose to film at their ranch because they liked the fact that the Wild Idea buffalo are one-hundred percent grass-fed, free-roaming, and are harvested in the field.

O’Brien says she was happy to have the Food Network crew.
