The colors are dynamic in Rodger Ellingson's love letter to Sioux Falls. Ellingson's exhibit "Sioux Falls in Color" is on display at the Center for Western Studies on the Augustana University campus through January 10th. Ellingson's vibrant collection of acrylic and watercolor interpretations of Sioux Falls events and locations demonstrate his passion for the city.

The artist visits with SDPB's Jackie Hendry in the Kirby Family Studio in Sioux Falls.

"Plain Views: Watercolors by Judy Thompson" is on display at Augustana University in the Madson/Nelson/Elmen Galleries of the Fantle Building through February 11 at the Center for Western Studies.

Thompson's work is inspired by the ever-changing landscapes of South Dakota.  She has served as artist in residence through the National Park Service at Homestead National Monument in Beatrice, Nebraska, and at Badlands National Park in Interior, South Dakota.

The art exhibition Moving Trees, Chasing Shadows comes to the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City Friday with an artist reception at 5:00 p.m.

As Sheila Miles explains, Moving Trees, Chasing Shadows is painted from abstracted photographs taken from inside a moving car. They include large oil paintings and a series of smaller watercolors.
