U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith loves poetry because it invites her to listen to another voice speaking about what it means to be alive.

She's in South Dakota tonight (Friday, October 5) at the Matthews Opera House at 5 p.m. and Saturday, October 6 at the Sturgis Public Library at 9 a.m.

She brings copies of the new anthology "American Journal: Fifty Poems For Our Time" for those who attend her events.
