The event is today from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. inside the Joy Center at Black Hills State University in Spearfish. This year, Black Hills State University is itself one of the honorees for having made environmental awareness a priority.

A small park in Downtown Rapid City has won the town’s 2015 Sustainability Award.

 The solar powered Trinity Eco Prayer Park collects and cleans storm water runoff before it enters Rapid Creek while providing a bit of green landscape in the middle of downtown.

Thunder Valley Breaking The Mold To Break Ground

A new community is breaking ground on Pine Ridge on Monday.

Officials with the Thunder Valley Community say they are also breaking the mold for the way housing is developed in Indian Country.    

Nick Tilsen, an Oglala Lakota, is the Executive Director of Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation.  He says the project aims to not only address the critical housing shortage, but also to build economic development and a sustainable healthy community  on Pine Ridge.
