She joins us today with a recap of the Tiny House Tour and its efforts to raise awareness about habitat preservation.  Recently the tiny house was surrounded by flames in the midst of a wildfire. Wild Kingdom Wild Guide host Stephanie Arne is visiting her home state of South Dakota before she begins preparation for her second season on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Arne won a contest a year ago, where she competed with 200 others in a quest to become the new Wild Guide host. Arne has enjoyed her journey so far and she is excited for her career to continue.

The new season of Wild Kingdom is underway after the premiere webisode on Sunday evening. South Dakota native and Mutual of Omaha Wild Guide Stephanie Arne is the host of Wild Kingdom. She won the opportunity in a contest this summer. Arne says filming these episodes is like a dream come true.

Stephanie Arne is the winner of the Mutual of Omaha competition. She wins $10,000 and a job as the Wild Guide for the internet television series, Wild Kingdom, premiering this fall. This has been a long but rewarding journey for Arne.

This competition started with over 200 applicants and eventually was cut down to just three finalists. Today the Wild Kingdom announced Stephanie Arne as the winner to become their next Wild Guide host. Arne is a Pierre Native and a graduate of South Dakota State. She says she is happy and thankful for this opportunity.

In 2005, South Dakota State University senior Stephanie Arne was about to graduate with a degree in human development. Her plan had been to go on to get her master's degree and become a counselor. But in her heart was a passion to work with wildlife. A trip to West Africa with Zeno Wicks, a now retired professor of plant science; Sally Gillman, then an assistant professor in human development and family studies; other faculty and about 15 fellow SDSU students convinced Arne to go with her heart.

SDSU Grad Is Finalist For Wildlife Show

A local South Dakotan and SDSU alumnus has been selected as a finalist for a wildlife competition. The winner of the contest becomes host of a new Wildlife show beginning this fall.  A staff member at SDSU says this is an example of how powerful the study abroad program can be.
