A new program called 605 Strong serves as a safety net, a resource, and a listening ear during times of need. South Dakota's Secretary for the Department of Social Services is Laurie Gill. In this week’s South Dakota news, we'll learn about how Governor Kristi Noem wants lawmakers to approve more than three and a half million dollars for intensive meth treatment and enforcement. Her request comes just weeks after the state debuted a campaign called "Meth. We're On It." Some say treatment is not enough.

Governor Kristi Noem says it's time to take action to fight meth abuse and addiction in South Dakota. The governor laid out plans for treatment and funding in her state budget proposal, asking for more than $3.5 million in dedicated resources. This came just weeks after the state launched a new meth awareness campaign. The campaign is designed to involve all South Dakotans in the fight against addiction.
