Native POP: People of the plains is a Native art market and cultural celebration and is a free annual event in the heart of downtown Rapid City.

A new generation is helping to re-defining the idea of modern Native art. Each summer Rapid City hosts a juried art show that draws Native artists primarily from the Great Plains tribes.

It’s a chance for young and established artists to sell original works and draw attention to their heritage.

An event showcasing Native American art is opening in Rapid City this weekend. Nearly 50 artists are expected to set up shop in Main Street Square. 

The Fifth Annual Native POP: People of the Plains event hosts Native artist from around the country. The John Paul Rangel works with the show. He says they select artists from a variety of backgrounds.
