Some of South Dakota's finest young musicians are at Brandon Valley High School this week for All-State Jazz Band. One of the three clinicians working with the All-State students is trumpeter Doug Woolverton.

A graduate of Northern State University, Woolverton was a member of the band Roomful of Blues for nearly a decade. He currently plays trumpet with Victor Wainwright and the Train and the Chicago tribute band Beginnings.

Woolverton discusses his life in music with Jazz Nightly host Karl Gehrke.

Over the past few decades, computers have become an integral part of so many aspects of our daily existence.

On Tuesday, March 26, jazz historian and critic Ted Gioia discusses the effect of technology on music over the last 40 years during a noon lecture titled "Computers, Technology and the Crisis in Music."

Gioia is the author of the forthcoming Music: A Subversive History. SDPB Jazz Nightly host Karl Gehrke visits with Gioia for In The Moment.

Singer/songwriter Maddie Todd joins Moment in Sound today. She recently entered the NPR Tiny Desk Contest with her song "Paradox" and was selected as a South Dakota fan favorite. She's a student at Augustana University, studying religion and sociology.

Two Eisenhower Fellows are traveling the country with a stop in South Dakota. The Fellowship is an exchange program for international leaders. Anita Ahmad from Malaysia and Chevaan Daniel from Sri Lanka spoke with SDPB's Chynna Lockett about their travels.
