The Nesters

The Nesters

You might say The Nesters, Eliza Blue and Jami Lynn, were destined to play music together.  They're accomplished vocalists, great writers and multi-instrumentalists who just happen to dig each other's music.  Brought together by their love of the banjo and prairie narratives, The Nesters are making an impact without having released a record.  Thanks to The Nesters for this opportunity to hear their performance at the BrickHouse Community Arts Center in Madison from August!

Homegrown singer/songwriter Jami Lynn's new album, Fall is a Good Time to Die, is filled with songs that  musically and lyrically reflect the landscape and culture of South Dakota. She says the songs on the album are the best she’s written, many of which had been around for years waiting for the perfect home.

Over the past couple years, South Dakota singer/songwriter Jami Lynn has steadily established a career with music that stretches from rustic, rural songs to suave jazz. As a reviewer for No Depression wrote, her voice is sweet enough to melt the hardest heart of stone one moment and powerful enough to cut down a circus strong man the next.

Award winning jazz pianist and vocalist Elizabeth Doyle returned to her native Sioux Falls to headline the George B. German Music Archives fundraiser on September 12, at Icon Lounge in Sioux Falls.

Hear the second half of the concert this week as Doyle is joined by Jami Lynn and the Dakota Jazz Collective featuring Jim Speirs, Joel Shotwell, Andrew Reinartz, Jeremy Hegg and Jim McKinney.  Doyle performs songs such as "I Got the Sun," "My Old Flame," "Lets Eat Now," and "I Love Being Here With You."

Sioux Falls native Elizabeth Doyle came home to headline a concert at Icon Lounge, a fundraiser for the George B. German Music Archives, on September 12.  Doyle is German's granddaughter.  The vocalist/pianist/songwriter was joined on stage by the Dakota Jazz Collective (Jim Speirs, Joel Shotwell, Andrew Reinartz, Jeremy Hegg and Jim McKinney).  Vocalist Jami Lynn opened the show with backing from the Dakota Jazz Collective.

Cluck and Croon

Mar 25, 2013

South Dakota duo Jami Lynn and Dylan James are about to release their first CD together.  “Cluck and Croon” is a mix of old bluegrass and folk with a strong undercurrent of jazz.

The album combines original songs and old standards.   SDPB’s Charles Michael Ray has today’s Dakota Digest with a review of the new CD.
