Dakota Midday: Holocaust Awareness Day

In recognition of Holocaust Remembrance Day, author Patrick Hicks joined SDPB's Kealey Bultena to discuss his research and visits to the historical sites that served as Nazi death camps in Europe.  Hicks is the author of over 10 books including The Commandant of Lubizek.  He is Writer-in-Residence at Augustana University in Sioux Falls.

SDPB's Jenifer Jones spent part of December working with refugees on the Greek Island of Lesvos.  Jones is now back in South Dakota.  She shared stories of her volunteer work with Dakota Midday host Lori Walsh.

Embassy of the Principality of Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is one of the smallest, but richest nations in the world. It’s an alpine country nestled between Switzerland and Austria and a winter destination for skiers. Claudia Fritsche has been the Ambassador of Liechtenstein to the U.S. since 2002, when the European country first opened its embassy in Washington, DC. With a population of only about 37,000, she describes her country as similar to a small town.
