Basketball players for the University of South Dakota are headed for Durham, North Carolina this upcoming season. USD leaders say the men’s team is scheduled to play the Duke Blue Devils.

Duke has a strong reputation as one of the best men’s basketball programs in the country. The Devils have 16 final four appearances and five national championships. Since 2000, Duke has won 132 consecutive home games against non-conference opponents.

This is the first ever meeting in men’s hoops between USD and any team in the ACC. The Coyotes and Blue Devils clash on December 2, 2017.

USD Coach Amy Williams Leaving for Nebraska

The coach who led the University of South Dakota Women’s Basketball Team to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament championship is leaving Vermillion.   

Amy Williams is returning to coach at her alma mater, the University of Nebraska.

One week ago, Amy Williams was celebrating the W-N-I-T championship at U-S-D’s Muenster University Center.

USD Women Win WNIT Title

The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team won the Women’s National Invitation Tournament championship over the weekend.  The Coyotes were 71-to-65 winners over Florida Gulf Coast University Saturday, in front of more than seven thousand people at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.  Senior Nicole Seekamp was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, and was one of two Coyotes on the All-Tournament Team.  Seekamp was granted another year of eligibility by the N-C-Double-A just before the season started.

SDPB's Nate Wek had the chance to talk with Tom Douple, the commissioner of the Summit League, about the Summit League Basketball Championships starting in Sioux Falls on Saturday. This will be the eighth year in-a-row for the Summit League Basketball Championships in the city. Both South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota will compete for titles in men's and women's hoops.
