Images of the Past allows us an opportunity to go back in time and learn about what shaped South Dakota. Today we shine the light on a company that began operating in the early 1900s and had locations in several South Dakota cities like Aberdeen, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. Bill Hoskins is the director of the Siouxland Heritage Museums in Sioux Falls, he joins us to tell us about the Manchester Biscuit Company.

The Siouxland Heritage Museums presents "World War I: The Great War Exhibit." It opens April 6 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Old Courthouse Museum in Sioux Falls. Bill Hoskins is director of the Siouxland Heritage Museums. He joins us to talk about the exhibit and the legacy of the war in South Dakota. Then Bob Bosse (SDPB Director of Television) is with us to talk about upcoming WWI programming on SDPB-TV.

Images of the Past tells the stories of South Dakota in photos, video, and words.

For this week's Images of the Past, Bill Hoskins, director of Siouxland Heritage Museums, tells the story of Camp Dewey in Sioux Falls. The camp served as a rendezvous for around 1,000 South Dakotans called into action in response to the downing of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898. How those men ended up ill-prepared for action in the Philippines rounds out the story of a South Dakota military contribution.

The Queen Bee Mill is one of the most recognizable historical landmarks in Sioux Falls. Siouxland Heritage Museums director Bill Hoskins tells the story of the mill's origins, the drought that shut down operations and the fire, that gutted the mill in 1956.
