The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team is preparing for the Michigan Wolverines this week. Both teams will meet up on Saturday evening in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.This has been a historic run for the Coyotes program this season. The Spirit of Su award has become a staple of the championship night festivities at each state high school basketball tournament in South Dakota. During the ‘AA’ girls tournament last week, Bailee Sobczak of Rapid City Stevens was the recipient of the award. For Bailee, SuAnne Big Crow was her childhood idol, which made for a special night for her.

Harrisburg defeated Mitchell 78-77 in the ‘AA’ boys basketball quarterfinal round on Thursday afternoon in Sioux Falls, but it took three overtimes to do it.Mitchell did have the final possession of the ball game, with a chance to try and win it, but the shot at the buzzer came up short.
