The 2024 SDHSAA state visual arts and art wars competition took place from the Ramkota in Sioux Falls on March 15-16. Here are the results from the event. Check out photos from all of the entries as well.

  • This year's A BEST IN SHOW, with 196 out of 210 possible points in the Drawing category, is Olivia Anderson from Parker High School.
  • This year's B BEST IN SHOW, with 203 out of 210 possible points in the Print Making category, is Angelina Molina from Northwestern High School.

The Overall Team Champion Award is awarded to one school in each class that accumulates the most sweepstakes points across all State Gallery categories.

  • The Class B RUNNER-UP is Wessington Springs High School and their coach, Alicia Roesler.
  • This year's Class B CHAMPION is Mount Vernon High School and their coach, Dana Schuldt.
  • The Class A RUNNER-UP is Tri-Valley High School and their coach, Mandy DeWitt.

Nate Wek
Nate Wek is currently the sports content producer and sports and rec beat reporter for South Dakota Public Broadcasting. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism Broadcasting and a minor in Leadership. From 2010-2013 Nate was the Director of Gameday Media for the Sioux Falls Storm (Indoor Football League) football team. He also spent 2012 and 2013 as the News and Sports Director of KSDJ Radio in Brookings, SD. Nate, his wife Sarah, and two kids Braxan and Jordy, live in Canton, SD.
