The Rapid City Marshals kick off their 12-game season this Saturday in the Summit Arena at The Monument. West River's new indoor football team will face off against the Topeka Tropics.

Head Coach Dante Dudley moved to Rapid City in 2006 to pursue an indoor football career. He played one season for the now defunct Rapid City Flying Aces and six seasons with the Wyoming Cavalry.

Dudley is excited for the opportunity to coach and said the team is ready to go.

"We're confident. The preseason game just gave us a little bit of knowledge of what we need to work on what we're good at, the direction that we're heading in," Dudley said. "So this first game, we just expect to keep moving in that direction."

The Marshals won their preseason game against the Colorado Greyhawks, 65-35.

Dudley hopes the community will rally around the team.

"I think football, because it's once a week and you only have five or six home games that you can really come to, I think it becomes more of an event that you don't want to miss," he said.

The game starts at 7p.m on Saturday, April 2. Visit rapidcitymarshals.com to see the full schedule.
