Chloe Lamb named assistant coach for University of Mary

Chloe Lamb named assistant coach at University of Mary

On Friday, the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota announced that Chloe Lamb would be joining their women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach. This is Lamb’s first coaching job since graduating from the University of South Dakota.

This past season, Lamb was part of the USD women’s team who reached the Sweet 16 of the Women’s NCAA Tournament.

In a press release from the University of Mary, announcing the hire, Lamb described her excitement.

"I am so excited to begin my coaching journey with Coach Neumann and the University of Mary," said Lamb. "I can't wait to share my experiences and the lessons I have learned to help our team grow. I'm very passionate about basketball and am excited to continue to pursue my passion from the sidelines while working with our players. I'm looking forward to serving our scholar-athletes and being a part of the Marauders community. Hooks Up!"

The Marauders are a DII school in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). They’re led by Rick Neumann, who relayed his excitement for Lamb joining his staff.

“We are unbelievably excited to welcome Chloe Lamb to the University of Mary women’s basketball program. She’s had unparalleled success as an athlete at USD and is a clear example of what hard work, determination, and competitiveness can do for an athlete,” explained Neumann. “Her accomplishments are impressive, but more importantly, it is Chloe’s mindset that will be immediately prevalent to our players and serve as an inspiration to help them reach their goals.”

Lamb’s new position with Mary will come with a special emphasis on ‘player development and recruiting.’

This past year, Chloe Lamb was the Summit League Player of the year, and the Summit League tournament MVP. She scored 1,884 career points during her career at USD, and was a part of four NCAA tournament teams, including this past year’s when the Coyotes advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.

Lamb grew up in Onida, South Dakota and played high school ball at Sully Buttes. She helped lead the Chargers to state ‘B’ championships her junior and senior year with a combined record those years of 51-1. Lamb also holds the all-time record at Sully Buttes in girls basketball to this day with 1,913 career points.

Along with basketball at Sully Buttes, Lamb also earned athletic letters in volleyball and track and field. She was also a member of the National Honors Society.
