The South Dakota State University women’s basketball program is ranked No. 22 in the nation by the Associated Press. Every Monday, the AP released its top-25 for both men’s and women’s basketball, and today, the Jackrabbit women were included on that list.
SDSU currently sits at 3-0 on the season with two of those wins, Iowa State and Gonzaga, coming against ranked opponents.
This is the first time the Jackrabbit women have been ranked in the Associated Press Top-25 since their 2008-09 season. That year they got as high as the No. 16 spot in the rankings.
SDSU topped No. 15 ranked Iowa State 76-69 in their season opener, defeated Creighton 66-47 in their second game, and then edged out a last second victory over No. 18 ranked Gonzaga to move to 3-0 – all games coming from Frost Arena in Brookings.

During the 2018-19 season, the Jackrabbits ranked No. 22 in the final top-25 poll from the USA Today. They went on to win the Summit League tournament that year, and advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
Since moving to division one, the SDSU women’s basketball program has had nine NCAA tournament appearances, nine Summit League tournament championships, and four NCAA tournament wins, two coming in 2019.
