Former University of South Dakota and Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Chris Streveler has signed a ‘futures contract’ with the Arizona Cardinals.
Streveler is coming off a Grey Cup championship season in the Canadian Football League where he was used as a utility player/quarterback.
In the Grey Cup championship game, Streveler threw for 39-yards and a touchdown, ran for 30-yards, and even caught a 13-yard pass.
SDPB’s Chris Laughery had a chance to chat with Chris Streveler after the Blue Bombers won the Grey Cup.
Streveler’s wide range of skills has made him an attractive option for teams of the National Football League.
Prior to signing with the Cardinals yesterday, he worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins as well.
A dream come true. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here. Teammates, coaches, family, friends, everyone. https://t.co/zglozu3bNo

Streveler attended the University of Minnesota for three seasons before transferring to the University of South Dakota. During his senior season with the Coyotes, he threw for over 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns. He also scored 11 touchdowns on the ground that year.
After college, Streveler went undrafted in the NFL Draft, but then got an opportunity with Winnipeg in the CFL, where he has been the past two seasons.
On March 18th, the NFL’s New Year where the rosters will expand from 53 to 90 players, Streveler can be added to the team’s roster and participate in the organization’s offseason programs – OTA’s, minicamp and then eventually training camp.
