A beautiful symphony came out of a horrific World War II siege. Maestro Delta David Gier from the South Dakota Symphony and classical music historian Joseph Horowitz join Lori Walsh to reflect on Symphony No. 7 by Soviet-Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich. The masterpiece defiantly premiered in Leningrad amidst the starvation and destruction of the Nazi siege of the city.
