On today's show …

We hear Mozart's Gran Partita Serenade performed by the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. We also hear from orchestra conductor Delta David Gier talking with In the Moment host Lori Wash.

This is our final Summer with the Symphony for this year. The The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra's fall season begins Saturday night October 8th in Sioux Falls with pianist Conrad Tao playing Tchaikovsky's PC #1 plus Brahms Symphony #1.

Matt Weesner is a former SDPB Radio Program Director, and has been playing music on the radio for more than 20 years. Weesner started hosting On Record back in early 2004, because at that time, there wasn't as much Americana (rock, country, folk, blues) music on the air. His favorite part of hosting On Record is the chance to talk with South Dakota musicians. He loves learning about what goes in to all of the music that has been -- and is being -- made here at home. Outside of radio, Matt is also a professional jazz and blues pianist -- he's played with Little Scotty and the Big Tones (Scotty Spenner), and when schedules align, the Poker Alice band lets him sit in. He and his wife, Teresa, have three above-average kids: Tanner, Mackenzie and Brianna.
