On today's show
We kick off South Dakota's Day of Giving 2021 by welcoming Matt Ehlman, Ph.D., co-founder, and managing principal of The Numad Group. We'll talk about South Dakota Gives and the impact of a statewide day of philanthropy. #givingtuesday southdakotagives.org. #forsouthdakota.
Passages Women's Transitional Living helps women adjust from challenging situations such as incarceration and/or homelessness and move toward a life where they can achieve their full potential. We welcome director Marge Beam for an update on the organization's mission and #givingtuesday goals.
April Carillo (she/they) is vice board chair for Equality South Dakota. They join us to talk about the organization's mission throughout the state for education, community partnerships, and the legislative impact that supports equality for the state's LGBTQ+ community.
We explore the potential impact of the "Sisters Most Needed Fund" through the work of the Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We talk about helping the most marginalized people in our communities. Our guests are gifts and stewardship officer Jen Rothenbueler and Brooke Nicholson Grote, director of mission development.
Diane Wade from Dakota Dachshund Rescue joins us to talk about love for all wiener dogs. Dachsies are intelligent and curious, and the group strives to help rescue abandoned, abused, and unwanted dachshunds with a small group of community volunteers.
Julie Amsberry, Yankton Area Arts Council, joins us to talk about the heavy lifting of keeping the doors open for South Dakota arts foundations. In this case, it's the actual doors that need help. We explore the "Dollars for Doors" initiative and how the historic arts council building needs thoughtful replacement of its exterior threshold.
