The Net-Zero 1 site would produce millions of gallons of sustainable jet fuel every year.

Lake Preston, South Dakota, may soon be home to a first-of-its-kind facility. Gevo is planning to build a Net-Zero 1 facility there to produce aviation fuel with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. That would help make air travel healthier for the environment.

Lori Walsh discussed the project with Tony Wells, who is the general manager and site leader for the facility. He explains the science—and politics—behind the plant.
